1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Beepaway ("Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

Beepaway provides a free service that generates configuration files to disable Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) warning sounds in vehicles. Our Service includes:

• Free account creation and management
• Vehicle configuration file generation
• Download of configuration files
• Vehicle information storage
• Model request submission
• VIN generator and decoder tools

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of our Service, you must create an account. Account creation requires:

• Name: Your full name or display name (required)
• Email Address: A valid, unique email address (required, used for login and communication)
• Password: A secure password with a minimum of 8 characters (required, stored using bcrypt hashing)

Authentication Methods: We currently support email/password authentication. OAuth providers (Google, Apple) are planned for future implementation but are not currently available.

Upon account creation, you will be assigned a unique user ID (UUID) and your account will be set to "free" membership status by default. All accounts start with free membership.

3.2 Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (email and password)
• All activities that occur under your account, including vehicle configurations and downloads
• Ensuring the accuracy of information provided, especially vehicle information and VIN
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access or use of your account
• Using a strong, unique password that you do not use for other services
• Keeping your email address up to date for account notifications

Session Management: We use HTTP-only cookies to maintain your login session. Sessions expire after 7 days of inactivity. You can log out at any time, which will clear your authentication cookie.

4. Vehicle Information

4.1 Required Vehicle Information

When creating a configuration file, you must provide the following vehicle information:

• Vehicle Make: Manufacturer name (e.g., Honda, Toyota, BMW) - required
• Vehicle Model: Model name (e.g., Civic, Corolla, 3 Series) - required
• Vehicle Year: Model year (e.g., 2024, 2025) - required
• VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): 17-character alphanumeric code - required
• System Type: ISA system type identifier for your vehicle (e.g., ISA, ISLA, RSA, TSR) - required

4.2 Optional Vehicle Information

• Vehicle Trim: Trim level or variant (optional)

4.3 Vehicle Data Storage

All vehicle information you provide is stored in our database and associated with your user account. This includes:

• A unique vehicle ID (UUID) linking the vehicle to your account
• Creation timestamp for the vehicle record
• Association with configuration files generated for that vehicle

4.4 VIN Collection and Use

Important: Your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is personally identifiable information that uniquely identifies your specific vehicle. By providing your VIN, you acknowledge that:

• We store your VIN securely in our database
• Your VIN is associated with your user account
• We use your VIN to generate vehicle-specific configuration files
• Your VIN may be used for fraud prevention and security purposes

4.5 Accuracy and Authorization

You represent and warrant that:

• All vehicle information you provide is accurate and truthful
• You own the vehicle or have legal authority to modify the vehicle's software
• The VIN you provide corresponds to the vehicle you intend to modify
• You have the right to provide this information to us

Providing false or inaccurate vehicle information may result in incorrect configuration files and is a violation of these Terms of Service.

5. Free Service

Beepaway is provided free of charge. We do not charge fees for:

• Account creation
• Configuration file generation
• File downloads
• Unlimited configuration files

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

6. Configuration Files and Downloads

6.1 Configuration File Generation

When you request a configuration file, we:

• Generate a unique configuration file based on your vehicle information
• Assign a unique configuration file ID (UUID) and version number
• Store the file path and metadata in our database
• Set the initial status to "pending" until processing is complete
• Change status to "ready" when the file is available for download
• Update status to "downloaded" after you download the file

6.2 Download System

To download configuration files, we use a secure token-based system:

• Each download requires a unique, time-limited download token
• Download tokens expire after a set period for security
• We record your IP address at the time of download for security purposes
• Download timestamps are stored in our database
• Each download is associated with your user account and the specific configuration file

6.3 Intended Use

Configuration files are intended solely for disabling ISA warning sounds in your personal vehicle. You agree to:

• Use configuration files only for vehicles you own or have legal authority to modify
• Use configuration files only for the specific vehicle matching the VIN provided
• Follow all applicable local laws and regulations regarding vehicle modifications
• Understand that modifying vehicle systems may affect warranty coverage
• Use the Service and configuration files at your own risk
• Follow installation instructions carefully

6.4 Prohibited Uses

You agree NOT to:

• Resell, redistribute, or share configuration files with others
• Use configuration files for commercial purposes or profit
• Modify, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract data from configuration files
• Use configuration files for vehicles other than the one specified in your request
• Use the Service to violate any laws or regulations
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, download system, or security measures
• Attempt to bypass download token security or access files without authorization
• Use automated tools or scripts to download multiple files without authorization

7. Disclaimers

7.1 No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7.2 Vehicle Modifications

We do not guarantee that configuration files will work with all vehicles or that modifications will not affect your vehicle's warranty, safety systems, or legal compliance. You assume all risks associated with modifying your vehicle's software.

7.3 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BEEPAWAY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, and software, are owned by Beepaway and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Configuration files generated through our Service are provided for your personal use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from configuration files for commercial purposes.

9. User Content and Submissions

9.1 Vehicle Information and Data

By submitting vehicle information (including VIN, make, model, year, trim, system type) to our Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Store and process your vehicle information in our database
• Use your vehicle information to generate configuration files
• Associate your vehicle information with your user account
• Use anonymized vehicle data for analytics and service improvement

9.2 Model Requests

By submitting a model request (manufacturer, model, year, additional information), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

• Store your request in our database
• Use your request to prioritize vehicle model support
• Share anonymized request data for product development purposes
• Contact you regarding the status of your request

Model requests may be assigned statuses including "pending", "in_progress", "completed", or "rejected". We reserve the right to prioritize requests at our discretion.

9.3 Waitlist Participation

If you join our waitlist (when enabled), you grant us permission to:

• Store your email address and optional name
• Calculate and display your waitlist position
• Contact you when your position becomes available
• Track your waitlist participation

9.4 Content Ownership

You retain ownership of the information you submit. However, by using our Service, you acknowledge that:

• We need to store and process your data to provide the Service
• We may use anonymized, aggregated data for analytics and improvement
• We will not sell your personal information to third parties
• You can request deletion of your data at any time (subject to legal retention requirements)

10. Account Termination and Data Deletion

10.1 Termination by You

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features (when available). Upon account deletion:

• Your account will be deactivated immediately
• Your authentication session will be terminated
• Your personal information will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy retention schedule
• Vehicle information and configuration files associated with your account will be deleted
• Download records may be retained for up to 2 years for security and audit purposes
• Model requests may be anonymized but retained for product development

10.2 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause or notice, for any reason including but not limited to:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Abuse of the Service, download system, or security measures
• Providing false or inaccurate vehicle information
• Attempting to access or download files without authorization
• Using automated tools to abuse the Service
• Any activity that compromises the security or integrity of the Service

10.3 Effects of Termination

Upon termination (by you or us):

• Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
• Your authentication cookie will be cleared
• You will no longer be able to access your account or download configuration files
• We may delete your account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy
• Certain data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (fraud prevention, security audits)

Data Retention: Even after account termination, we may retain certain information (such as download records with IP addresses) for up to 2 years for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance purposes. See our Privacy Policy for detailed retention schedules.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Service shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.
